Transfer Gossip: Bolton Wanderers set price wanted for top goalscorer Gary Madine

As reported by Alan Nixon of The Sun on twitter, Bolton Wanderers have set their price for top goalscorer, Gary Madine.

Wanderers cannot afford to let Madine go.

He’s vital to the way Bolton play, as well as being Wanderers’ top goalscorer. Madine is in the form of his life, and to sell him would basically throw away any chance Bolton have of staying in the Championship.

Having already rejected a bid rumoured to be little over £1 million from Cardiff City, as well as the continued speculation linking him with Sunderland, Wanderers need to deter any clubs from buying Madine.

Setting an asking price of £6 million will do just that.

Even in the modern game of extortionate transfer fees, Gary Madine is not worth £6 million. But that’s the point. Either Madine stays, or Wanderers receive enough money to help fund running costs and for a suitable replacement.

If Wanderers stand firm and refuse to accept a penny under £6 million, I think it’s safe to assume Madine will still be a Wanderer after the end of the window.

I really can’t see any club bidding that kind of money.
