DETROIT (NBC NEWS) – An 8-year-old boy is winning the country’s heart with his emotional reaction to his very first bed.
Daeyr Neely and his mother have been homeless since he was two years old when his mom lost her job and their apartment. After moving into a shelter and hoping to qualify for public housing, they got their house in November, but had no furniture.
A non-profit called “Humble Design” furnished the home with donated items and after weeks of sleeping on a pile of blankets, Daeyr had a new place to lay his head.
“As a mother, I did what I was supposed to do. I did what I said I was gonna do. I kept my promise to him and fulfilled our dreams,” Dionna said.
