Nollywood Travel Film Festival visits the German and Canadian Consulates

The Nollywood Travel Film Festival which had its debut in Toronto, Canada in September 2017 is set to launch again and in lieu of the forthcoming edition, scheduled to hold from May 9 to 13, 2018, in Hamburg; a courtesy visit was paid to the Consul General, Ingo Herbert of the German Consulate on Monday 4, December 2017.

The following day, the team also paid a visit to the Canadian Deputy High Commissioner James Christoff.

The festival is set up to celebrate and showcase the best of Nigerian film and introduce our cinematic canon to global audiences.

According to the Founder of Nollywood Travel Film Festival, Mykel Parish; one of the objectives of the festival is to sensitise the global audience on traversing issues in Nigeria and Africa at large through the stories portrayed in the films.

The Film Festival is one of the ways of further strengthening the relationship between Germany and Nigeria. The festival also through the movies screened, displays the rich culture of Nigeria.

At the Canadian Consulate, the team was welcomed by James Christoff (Deputy High Commissioner of Canada) and Sarah Josephine Branco (Trade Commissioner of Canada).

James Christoff shared an introduction to Canada and the prestigious Toronto Film Festival (TIFF), so did Mykel Parish and Alhaji Adedayo Thomas, Director General of the Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board. The Deputy High Commissioner lauded Nollywood for showing steady and sophisticated growth and expressed interest in collaborations between Nollywood and Canada

The mission of the Nollywood Travel Film Festival is to present Nigerian cinema to the global audience through the lens; in positive images that will lead to growing Nollywood.

Also in attendance at both courtesy visits were; Sebeastian E. Polzin (Commercial, Political, Cultural and Press Attaché German Consulate), Susan Peters (Actress), Rick Nwanso (Managing Partner, êth Communications), Uche Ogbodo (Actress), Babades Emokiniovo (Leader, Veentage Band), Don Pedro Aganbi (Chairman, Actors’ Guild of Nigeria Lagos), Felix Duke (Festival’s Events Coordinator), Chris Ozoemena (Film Marketer), Ebere Paul (SA to Mykel Parish), Toyin Olorunoje (SA to Censors DG), as well as actors, Daniel K. Daniel and Chris Okagbue.

A press conference and a nomination party have been scheduled to hold in January 2018 for the 2018 edition of the Nollywood Travel Film Festival in Canada.
