Adrenalin attraction firm Zip World has zoomed onto the list of the fastest growing companies in the UK and vowed to continue to transform North Wales into the adventure capital of Europe.
The company – whose attractions include the world’s fastest zip line, giant underground trampolines, and a forest coaster – has gone from eight employees in 2013 to 350 staff this summer.
Turnover has now reached £30m, with millions of pounds of extra cash re-invested back into the business.
This astonishing success has transformed the tourism offer in North Wales and now seen the business make the Sunday Times Fast Track 100, celebrating the fastest growing firms in Britain. The company is number 46 on the list.
Over the year they have had 340,000 participants on their attractions.
Zip World founder and commercial director Sean Taylor said: “That equates to more than 500,000 visitors.
“It is not just Zip World that are benefiting but the community around us as well, hotels, B&Bs, pubs and restaurants. That is what we want to see.”
He added that he was delighted their success was being recognised by making this prestigious list.
It has been another year of expansion for the company.
Recent months has seen the Fforest Coaster open at Betws-y-Coed and the Adventure Terminal launch at the Penrhyn Quarry site in Bethesda – multi-million pound investments that keep expanding the adventure tourism offer in the region.
There are plans in the pipeline for a hotel in Llanrwst.
Sean added: “We are continuing on this journey and we keep investing back in the company.
“But our success is not just down to our world class products, it is also our world class staff.
“We will keep working to make North Wales the adventure tourism capital of Europe.”
